A new Deputy Chief Education Officer has been appointed by the Ministry of Education, according to a statement released yesterday. Charged with the responsibility for Development is Mrs Doodmattie Singh.Mrs Doodmattie SinghSingh, it was disclosed, has an extensive background in Education having spent 34 years of her life as an educator. She started her career as a Pupil Teacher at the Vergenoegen Nursery School and by 1985 was one of the few persons with a Class 1 Grade 1 Trained Teacher’s Certificate in Nursery Education.Singh holds a Bachelors Degree in Education –?Teaching and Administration (Primary) and a Master?of Arts Degree in School Management.Apart from her outstanding professional experience and contributions as a teacher, Singh also served as Administrative Officer in the Department of Education Region Three; District Education Officer 11- Region Three; Regional Education Officer Region Three; and Regional Education Officer Region Four. Also from 2007 to May 2013 she served as Assistant Chief Education Officer for all three levels – Nursery, Primary and Secondary.The Ministry stated that the opportunity to train and supervise at all levels of the education system has given her a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be an asset to her in the current position as Deputy Chief Education Officer -Development.Minister of Education Priya Manickchand has extended congratulations and best wishes to Singh in all her endeavours.
